June 15 : At the launch event of her book Sach Kahun Toh, Neena Gupta revealed many interesting incidents of her life to Kareena Kapoor Khan. Kareena on Monday launched Neena Gupta's autobiography. While talking to Kareena, Neena said that she was convinced that the Laal Singh Chaddha actress should launch the book, as she as an actor and a mother, is an inspiration to many.
Neena Gupta, a strong woman and a source of inspiration herself, shared a video on her Instagram handle, where she revealed many interesting narratives from her life. Talking to Kareena Kapoor, Gupta revealed about her relationships and how her wedding was cancelled at the last moment.
Chatting with Kareena, the Badhai Ho star said, “In fact, while I was writing the book, I realised in my prime years I have been without a lover or husband. Because I came here, then small affairs, nothing really materialised. Basically, I was all alone.” The talented actress further said “Even with Vivian [Richards], he was far away, he had his own life. We seldom met.” Neena Gupta and Vivian Richards, former cricketer, who represented West Indies, are parents to their daughter, fashion designer Masaba Gupta.
Without naming anybody, Neena Gupta said that she was getting married to a man, who called off the marriage at the last moment, when the actress was shopping for the wedding. “Till today I don't know [what happened]. That happened. But what can I do? I moved on. I would have loved to get married to him. I had a lot of respect for his father, mother. I was living in their house. He's going to read, he's alive, he's happily married. He has children,” Neena Gupta revealed.
Neena Gupta also shared that she wanted a normal family life with husband and children. “People say I lived my life on my own terms. Actually, I never did. Wherever I went wrong, I accepted it and moved forward. I wanted to have a normal husband, children, and my in-laws. When I see other people I do feel a little envious. I did not blame, I did not become alcoholic, because what I wanted I did not get,” she said.
Neena Gupta's autobiography Sach Kahun Toh hit the book stands on June 14. Ppublished by Penguin Random House India, the book tells her life story in the most "unapologetically honest" manner. The book narrates her life story--from her days at the National School of Drama (NSD) to moving to Bombay (Mumbai) in the 1980s, her unconventional pregnancy and single parenthood.
The actress wrote the book during the lockdown last year. Announcing her book, she wrote in a post, "I thought in these very difficult and gloomy times when we are stuck at home, we are sad and anxious, maybe my book will help you tide some of the tough days."
