July 26 : Yami Gautam on Sunday began shooting for her upcoming film Lost in Kolkata. Yami plays a crime reporter in Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s directorial.

Taking to her Instagram handle, Yami announced the start of the film, and shared a picture, where she is not seen in the frame, but her hands can be seen holding the clapboard. Yami captioned the post as, “The shot is set. The journey kickstarts #Lost shooting begins!”

Earlier, in an Instagram post, Yami described the film as a hard-hitting and thrilling one, which is directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury of Pink fame, and written by Shyamal Sengupta and Ritesh Shah. While Yami plays the lead, the film also stars Pankaj Kapur, Rahul Khanna, Neil Bhoopalam, Pia Bajpiee, and Tushar Pandey. The movie’s music has been composed by music director Shantanu Moitra, with lyrics by Swanand Kirkire.

Lost, which is backed by Zee Studios and Namah Pictures, is an investigative drama centered around media integrity. Set in Kolkata, the film will mark Rahul Khanna’s comeback after seven years. The actor was last seen in 2014 film Firelfies. Rahul will play one of the leads alongside Yami Gautam.

Speaking about the film, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury had said in a statement, “Designed as an investigative drama, at its core the film explores themes like commitment, responsibility, holding hands and making our world beautiful and compassionate. For me it's important that any film I make should have a social context and that the stories are taken from the world around us. ‘Lost’ is an emotional thriller that represents a higher quest, a search for lost values of empathy and integrity.”

Initially, the film was slated to begin in May, but was postponed due to the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic. Aniruddha will reportedly shoot in Kolkata and Purulia in West Bengal.

Besides Lost, Yami has Bhoot Police in her kitty, where she will share screen space with Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Saif Ali Khan. Yami is also a part of Dasvi, where she plays a police officer. In the film, Yami will co-star with Abhishek Bachchan and Nimrat Kaur. Yami also has in her kitty A Thursday. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and directed by Behzad Khambata, the film will feature Yami as a playschool teacher.
