October 11 : Dia Mirza turned showstopper for Abraham & Thakore at Lakmé Fashion Week 2021. This year, too, Abraham & Thakore came up with their signature design but notched higher with a touch of sustainability, conveying a message to the world.
Dia opted for an ensemble from Abraham & Thakore’s ‘Assemble, Disassemble and Reassemble’ collection, which featured clothes made from 100% recycled PET materials. She donned a long black and white patchwork dress with a brown collar and a pop of red around the cuffs. The ensemble was made from recycled materials. Dia looked graceful as she walked the ramp for the designer duo in the abstract patchwork kaftan with stitch detailing and contrasting yoke and cuffs. The actress ditched accessories with the ensemble. She completed the look with dewy makeup and bright red lip shade. She left her hair open to complete the look.

Abraham & Thakore’s outfits such as tunics, pants, wrap skirts and jackets in graphic patterns and warm tones of black, red and white made up the collection. With shades of burgundy, red, wine, coffee and olive, teamed with classic black and white, this sustainable collection is inspired from the disassembling and reassembling of materials. Patchwork, hand stitching and appliqué are an integral part of the collection. The collection also included evening wear that are hand embroidered with sequins made from sheets of discarded PET material creating glamour out of waste.
According to Abraham & Thakore, India is known for its traditional systems of recycling and upcycling such as patchwork and kantha. In their collection, they used fabrics made from recycled post consumer PET bottles. Keeping the outfits relaxed and timeless, the designers showcased stylish, modern, ready-to-wear options that can be worn from dawn to dusk.
