May 10 : Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has today dropped the first poster of his directorial Cirkus. Starring Ranveer Singh in a double role for the first time, Cirkus hits the theatres on December 23, 2022. The film boasts of an ensemble cast including Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez and Varun Sharma in prominent roles. Varun also plays a double role.

Sharing the poster on his Instagram handle, Rohit addressed the audience and wrote, “It's time to bring our audience back to the cinemas once again. Golmaal released 16 years ago and the love you all gave me made me what I am today. Cirkus is a Christmas gift for you and your family. Kyunki iss ‘Cirkus' mein bohot sara Golmaal hai." In the poster, Ranveer and Varun can be seen in their double avatars. Reacting to Rohit's post, a fan wrote, “Ek or box office hit, ” while another commented, “Choppers and flying cars coming soon.” Still another said, “Cirkus and Golmaal? Is there a similarity in their story line?”

The film revolves around two sets of identical twins who were separated at birth. Circus also features Siddhartha Jadhav, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Vrajesh Hirjee, Vijay Patkar, Sulbha Arya, Mukesh Tiwari, Anil Charanjeett, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Murli Sharma. Rohit has also roped in popular South music composer Devi Shri Prasad for Cirkus. A popular music composer, singer, and performer, Devi Sri Prasad, is popularly known as the Rockstar DSP.

Cirkus is based on William Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors. The most popular adaptation of The Comedy of Errors was Gulzar's Angoor, starring Sanjeev Kumar in the lead. Cirkus is directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Reliance Entertainment, T-Series and Rohit Shetty Picturez. Cirkus went on the floors in November 2020 and was shot in Mumbai till all film shootings were halted owning to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

Cirkus marks Rohit and Ranveer's second collaboration. Earlier, Ranveer had collaborated with Rohit for Simmba, and reprised his character in Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi.

Meanwhile, Ranveer is gearing for the release of his comedy film Jayeshbhai Jordaar on May 13. Besides, Ranveer has some interesting projects lined up including Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Alia Bhatt.
