May 14 : Ranveer Singh starrer Yash Raj Films’ Jayeshbhai Jordaar was released on Friday to mixed reviews. According to early estimates by trade analysts, the film earned around Rs 3 crore at the box office on day 1, which is much less that what was expected. The film was released across 2250 screens in the domestic market.

Ranveer, who plays a man standing up for his unborn child and wife and in the process, fights against the patriarchal society, on Friday hosted a special screening of the film for underprivileged children at a theatre in Mumbai's Juhu. Ranveer had also hosted his film 83’s screening for kids as he wants to spread the joy of watching clean, family entertainers.

“I’m fortunate to be collaborating with the biggest filmmakers who feel I can be a part of their larger-than-life vision for cinema in India. While I will predominantly look to do such films that unite audiences across the country for a community viewing experience, I will also choose important films like Jayeshbhai Jordaar that satirically talk about patriarchy and toxic masculinity. It does have its heart in the right place and it is a film that had to be made. So, I’m proud to be backing it and hoping that audiences love it too,” the actor said.

Several paparazzi accounts showed videos of Ranveer dancing with the kids at the event. In one of the videos, Ranveer was seen hugging the kids and then dancing with them to his song Firecracker from Jayeshbhai Jordaar. In another video, he was seen cutting a cake and feeding it to the children. He also clicked selfies with them.

Written and directed by debutant director Divyang Thakkar, Jayeshbhai Jordaar also stars Shalini Pandey, Boman Irani, and Ratna Pathak Shah among others. It is bankrolled by Yash Raj Films.

Meanwhile, Ranveer has several projects in the pipeline including Rohit Shetty's Cirkus. The actor will be seen in a double role for the first time, along with Jacqueline Fernandez and Pooja Hegde. Co-produced by Rohit Shetty, Bhushan Kumar, and Reliance Entertainment, Cirkus also featured Varun Sharma in a double role. Ranveer will also be seen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Alia Bhatt.
