May 14 : After playing smaller but significant parts in several commercial movies, actor Darshan Kumar had his breakthrough role in mega movie, The Kashmir Files, and now finds the success “a surreal experience”.
Actor Darshan Kumar was interacting with NewsHelpline on the sidelines of musical program, titled The Sounds of Kashmir Files, in Mumbai.
Talking about the success of the film, and crediting his filmmaker, actor Darshan Kumar said, “All thanks for Vivek Agnihotri and Pallavi Joshi for making me part of this film, I am on cloud nine right now. When I first met them, they show me stories of first victim which they had shot, I was numb after watching those stories, and I made my mind that I had to part of this film”
“We felt that this movie might touch audience heart but never thought it will get such a response, people have made this film their own and we have been appreciated not only nationally, but on international level as well, the experience is surreal” added Darshan Kumar.
Darshan Kumar made his debut with the film Mary Kom (2014), opposite Priyanka Chopra, as a male lead. He also appeared in the 2003 Salman Khan starrer movie Tere Naam as one of the friends of Radhe, but he has become a household name after The Kashmir Files.
Written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri, and starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Pallavi Joshi, the film is centered around an exodus of Kashmiri Hindus in the disputed region of Kashmir. It depicts the early 1990s exodus to be a genocide.
Darshan Kumar will soon be seen in Aashram Season 3, along with Bobby Deol, helmed by Prakash Jha.
