Bangalore, Oct 20 : Hosts Karnataka picked up five points after defeating Goa by eight wickets in a rain-affected game that was reduced to 24 overs a side in the South Zone Under-19 cricket tournament for the Vinoo Mankad trophy, here Saturday.

Goa made 99 for 2 in 24 overs while Karnataka chased a revised target of 141 that they achieved quite comfortably with Shreyas Gopal (58 not out) being the top scorer.

Two other matches could not be completed due to rains as Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Hyderabad picked up two points apiece.

Andhra 143 for 3 in 25 overs (P Srikrishna 37, G Jayavardhan 28, Ricky Bhui 22 not out, G Shyam Sundar 39) drew with Tamil Nadu. Match abandoned due to rains. Points: Andhra 2; Tamil Nadu 2.

Kerala 20 for 0 in 4 overs drew with Hyderabad. Match abandoned due to rains. Points: Kerala 2, Hyderabad 2.

Goa 99 for 2 in 24 overs (Prathamesh Gawas 42 not out, Mukund Bandedkar 21 not out) lost to Karnataka 141 for 2 in 18.3 ovres (Shreyas Gopal 58 not out, Kranthi Kumar 30 not out, Sagar Naik 2/34) by 9 wickets (target reset by VJD method). Points: Karnataka 5, Goa 1.
