New Delhi, Nov 17 : Giving art a modern twist, here is an exhibition that brings digital art and pop art under the same roof, creating a new form of art.
Organised by Ink, Reels and The Graphics Gang, it brings together the top talent in graphic design from across the country to create stunning works of art that pay homage to the great books and movies that influenced and created the very phenomena of Pop Art and Culture.
While internationally, graphic design is a fast emerging art form, in India the trend is yet to be explored. Curator Arjun Sawhney wanted to create a first of it kind platform, where digital art would collide with Pop Art and a new form of art would emerge. For the show, Sawhney asked for the creation of art works -- one for a book and one for a movie in art or poster form.
The show brought together a stellar line up of graphic design talent -- Chetana Vij of I Me Am Design, Thukral and Tagra, Design Temple's Divya Thakur, Gopika Chowfla, Gulab Saggu, Himanshu Dogra of Play Clan, Kapil Sharma, Manav Sachdev, Mickey Bardava, Namrata Lenka, Pushkar Thakur of The Grafiosi, Rabia Gupta of RDG, fashion designer Rajesh Pratap Singh and Vivek Mathur of Indika Design.
Renowned fashion designer Rajesh Pratap Singh has created two of the artworks displayed at the show titled 'Every Breath You Take' as a symbol of protest against the current environmental situation and the air we breathe. The show also hosts a specially curated bar by Grey Goose India which offers guests a range of exclusive cocktails.
"I hope the Ink, Reels and The Graphics Gang will be a milestone show and create a vibrant platform for the graphic and digital art. All over the world this art is flourishing and India has a wealth of talent, which could benefit from efforts such as this," Sawhney said in a statement.
