May 11 : The highly auspicious pradosh vrat, dedicated to one of the most revered Hindu Gods - Lord Shiva, falls on 14th and 30th of June 2019. Observed on 13th day (trayodashi tithi) of both lunar fortnights at Pradosh (twilight or evening time around sunset), pradosh vrat is believed to be the most auspicious occasion to worship and seek blessings from Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

This year, Jyeshtha shukla paksha (waxing phase) trayodashi falls on June 14, Friday and Ashada krishna paksha (waning phase) trayodashi falls on June 30, Sunday. Pradosh vrat observed on Friday is called Bhrigu vaara pradosh vrat or Shukra pradosh vrat. It is believed that fasting on this day will bring happiness and success by eliminating the negativities from life. Pradosh on sunday is called Ravi pradosh or Bhanu pradosh vrat. By observing fast on this day devotees will attain longevity and peace.

Pradosham is believed to be the time when Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi are most benevolent and therefore the best time to seek their blessings. Hindus believe that fasting and worshipping the divine duo with utmost devotion and earnestness on Pradosh vrat day will cleanse them of their sins and help in attaining moksha.

The time soon after sunset where pradosh kaal and trayodashi tithi coincide is considered most auspicious for Shiva puja. For Ujjain, Madhya Pradash, pradosh puja timing on June 14, 2019 is between 06:47 PM and 08:59 PM and puja timings for pradosh vrat on June 30 is between 06:51 PM and 09:02 PM. Pradosh kaal and puja timings are different for different cities as calculation of timings is based on sunset.

Dedicate yourself to the benevolent Lord Shiva during this pradosh vrat and get your wishes fulfilled.
