June 21 : Today, it is International Yoga Day, and fitness gurus around the world are encouraging people to practice yoga – as a way of life. From India’ PM Modi, to bollywood stars like Malaika Arora and Shilpa Shetty, they stand in unison today to spread the goodness of Yoga themed fitness.

Apart from the glam world, we also trailed around the life of Yogini who had been the inspiration and teacher for many of the Bollywood actors and actresses. India can be proud to have a lady who shunned down negativism and proved that if you work hard towards your goal, the dream will become a reality- and truly a blessed reality!

Deepika Mehta and her Yoga Escapades

Just a small rewind into what made her enter the world of yoga, would help you appreciate this damsel a lot more. Back in the late 1990s, she met with an accident. She was left at the mercy of the doctors who declared that walking would no longer be possible for her again. But she went about looking for natural methods to get back her old zeal and her feet back to normal.

This was the hard part, and found life back after studying the beauty of the age old Indian study called Yoga. She took a deep plunge into Pranayama, mediation, and finally was love struck by Ashtanga Yoga.

In the beginning, she learnt at the Sivananda Yoga Kendra in Kerala and later on was introduced to Guru Shri. K. Patabhi Jois back in 2002.

Her yoga quest led her to various corners of the planet and mastered the fine lines of yoga from Yoga gurus like Dena Kingsberg, Richard Freeman, Lino Miele and few more.

Today, she is one of the most well known yoga instructors in Mumbai.

From losing her legs, she overcame the problem, and she attained a body of vigour, good health and flexibility just through the goodness of yoga.

She runs her own TV show under the name of ‘Yoga City’.

She was also the chief trainer of the The Biggest Loser show.

In 2014, she hit the Vogue covers as one of the three damsels who had the courage to redefine feminine beauty.

Today, she is the mentor, lifestyle advisor and diet specialist for many B- Town celebs like Jacqueline Fernandez, Shilpa Shetty, Katrina Kaif and much more.

This full moon has taken me on a full-on journey. The days building up to it have been emotionally intense, I felt a lot of past deep pain come up, ‘stuff’ from my past, all kinds of ‘triggers’; sadness, self-doubt,fear.. And then as if there was an emergence from the chrysalis, there was an intense amount of joy, contentment, letting go, bliss and breaking of old fear. (I even dived into my fear of the ocean, which I’ve had most of my life and took my first surf lesson today!!!!🏄🏽‍♀️) • Life is one of the biggest teachers, she teaches us what we need to learn most, often tough love, sometimes sweetness and compassion. Sometimes we make our plans but the Universe has a plan of its own for us. I had come here to Hyderabad for two days before heading off to the Kumbh to teach there and to be part of a dear Goddess friends project, but the morning I was supposed to leave, my family had an unfortunate incident, so I’ve had to cancel all my plans for the next month or more and stay here to look after my family. Even though this moment is extremely stressful for my family, I am extremely grateful for such a beautiful family where my brother, sister-in-law, incredible hubby and nephew and niece are so full of love and their so strongly for my mom and dad. It’s in moments like this I realise how grateful I am for this family. I will need all the strength for the next month, and now is where I feel all the Yoga training is meant to come to help, not just to be strong and flexible in the body but also strong and fluid to take whatever comes in life with positivity and grace.. . Wish me best of luck dearest fam, going to need all the support.❤️🥰🙏🏻🔱
