September 20 : Nusrat Jahan Ruhi, a popular actress in Bengali film industry and a Trinamool Congress MP, won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Basirhat in West Bengal. The actress-politician was creating headlines of late.
The actress, who is quite active on social media, shared a black and white picture on her Instagram handle, where she looked stunningly beautiful in a Benarasi saree. She captioned it as, “At the @rangoliindia event last eve, with hubby @nikhiljain09 #sherasaalisherasaree so happy to give away sarees to the chosen saalis from all over Bengal.. #PujomaaneRangoli #purechanderi #RangoliWeaves #handloomlover pic courtesy @sandipg383.”
Nusrat is the face of Rangoli Sarees, of which her husband Nikhil Jain was the director. Yesterday, the couple attended an event of Rangoli Sarees and distributed sarees to the chosen “salis”, the Bengali term for wife’s sisters. Nusrat looked glamorous in the Benarasi saree with broad gold border. She wore a pair of gold jumkas and left her wavy locks open. To match her traditional look, she wore a bindi.
Nusrat got married to businessman Nikhil Jain on June 19 in Turkey. The couple enjoyed their honeymoon in Mauritius. Nusrat was trolled for wearing sindoor, bindi and sari, usually worn by a Hindu woman, while taking oath in the Parliament.
Jahan debuted in Raj Chakraborty's film Shotru. She was also seen in the Bengali film Khoka 420, under the banner Eskay Movies. Her other movies include Sondhe Namar Agey with Rahul Bose, Khiladi with Ankush Hazra, Power with Jeet and many others. She will be next seen in Asur, directed by Pavel, which also featured Jeet and Abir Chatterjee in the lead roles.
