October 22 : She became every man's fantasy when she grooved to Chaiyya Chaiyya. From being a hot item girl to now a fitness freak and a style icon, Malaika Arora reigns Bollywood like a queen when it comes to fashion, fitness and dance. With every year, the diva proves that age is just a number. On the occasion of her 46th birthday, we salute her for aging with grace and elegance.
Malaika was born in 1973 and witnessed her parents’ divorce when she was just 11. The child moved out with her mother and six-year-old sister Amrita. While Malaika has Malayali roots from her mother Joyce Polycarp’s side, she is a Punjabi from her father Anil Arora’s side, who was in the Merchant Navy.

Passionate about dancing, Malaika started getting dance training from age four. She is trained in ballet, Jazz ballet and Bharatnatyam. After she passed out from school, she pursued her college education but dropped out despite her dream to become a teacher.
Though she never dreamt of becoming a model or an actress, from childhood she was quite at ease with the camera. She was featured in the April 1993 issue of the magazine Society, and thereafter modelled for brands like Mafatlal, Tanishq, Pearl Pet and others. During one such modelling assignment, Arora met actor Arbaaz Khan.

She was selected as MTV India’s VJ and also featured in the album song ‘Gur Naalo Ishq Mitha’. After her flopped debut in the film EMI in 2008, she never tried to appear as a lead character, instead took up item numbers and became a heartthrob with numbers like ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ and ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’.
In 1998, she married Arbaaz Khan. After 18 years of marriage, the couple divorced in 2017. Their son Arhaan is now 16-year-old.
While Malaika had donned the producer's hat and co-produced Dabangg, Dabangg 2 and Dolly Ki Doli, she had also set a world record by bringing together 1,235 participants to dance to ‘Munni Badnaam’ that was led by her.
Malaika has now turned into an entrepreneur and started a yoga studio called Divayoga. She also started The Closet Label along with Sussanne Khan and Bipasha Basu.
While her ex-husband is dating model Giorgia Andriani, Malaika is going strong with actor Arjun Kapoor, who is 11 years younger to her. On Kareena Kapoor’s show ‘What Women Want’, Malaika talked about her recent relationship with ease but revealed that divorce is still a sigma in India.
Malaika is mad about high heels. She revealed that she has a huge collection of high heels and would love to be buried under high heels when she dies.
