October 31 : The festival of Eid Milad Ul Nabi 2019 signifies the birthday of Prophet Mohammed. In India, this festival of Milad-Ul-nabi or Maulid will be celebrated on November 10, 2019. The date was decided by religious experts after the moon had been sighted. As per the Islamic lunar calendar, since the moon has been spotted in the month of Rabi ul Awwal on October 29, therefore it had been decided that the festival should be observed on November 10. For those places which sighted the moon on October 28, they could celebrate the special day on November 9, 2019.
Significance of Milad-Ul-nabi 2019
Apart from Prophet Muhammed's birthday, it also commemorates the death of the Prophet. On this day, his followers remember his spiritual teachings, the sacrifice and his life on this day. Apart from the joyous celebrations, Muslims ensure that they never mourn and or remain sad on this day. This, they believe is not good for the soul. He is believed to the most blessed messenger from the Almighty.
This is also the day when the Shia community believes that Prophet Mohammed had chosen his successor Hazrat Ali to continue the tradition of spreading the word.
When did this tradition commence in this world?
Historically, the tradition was brought forward by the Prophet's descendants, to be specific- his daughter. It was originally and still today is celebrated on the day twelve of the Rabi- ul- Awwal month of the Islamic lunar calendar. But the Shia community commemorates the same festival of the day 17 of the same month. On this day, religious leaders, preach and even take part in processions to highlight the importance of the life of Prophet.
