December 11 : Actress Deepika Padukone says while working on the make-up and prosthetic work, she discovered her character for Chhapaak during her media interaction at the trailer launch.
Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, Deepika Padukone, Vikrant Massey and more were interacting with media at the trailer launch of Chhapaak in Mumbai.
Deepika Padukone will be seen portraying the role of real-life acid attack survivor Laxmi in the film. When asked success of such hard-hitting films and discovering the character, the actress said, “When asked about being fearful while trying such a disfigured look for the film, Deepika said, “It is so Ironic, even I didn’t know what I would feel when I saw myself in the mirror for the first time. But I remember that moment very clearly, when we were doing the look test in Fox Studio office. It took me 4-5 hours for the look, and when I did look at myself in the mirror, I told Meghna Gulzar, I feel like myself, nothing has changed. And that is the day I found my character, and I knew what I need to do in this movie. I don’t think we are defined by our external appearances only”
Talking about taking much a challenging and gut-wrenching story, Deepika said she found the story inspiring and knew Megha Gulzar would do justice to the film. She said, “One of the most important among other things, it’s the marriage between having that story and also having the right person to tell it. I could see the sincerity, honesty and I knew I was in good hands”
“Very often you come across great stories but you also need a right director to tell the story in an authentic, honest and responsible manner, especially when you’re telling a story like this” added Deepika.
