January 15 : On late poet Kaifi Azmi's birth centenary, many celebrities got together for a special screening of his son Baba Azmi's first directorial work ‘Mee Raqsam’, a Hindi feature film, on Tuesday in Mumbai.
Celebrities like Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Naseeruddin Shah, Baba Azmi, Tanvi Azmi, Farhan Akhtar, Shibani Dandekar, Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, Urmila Matondkar, Vidya Balan, Tanuja Chandra, Madhuri Dixit Nene and Sriram Nene attended screening of the film.
Varun Dhawan, Saiyami Kher, Mahesh Bhatt, Soni Razdan, Shaad Ali, Asha Parekh, Madhu Chopra, Sudhir Mishra, Manish Malhotra, Rahul Bose and Tannishtha Chatterjee were also spotted at the film screening.
Talking about many A-list celebrities who attended screening of ‘Mee Raqsam’, Baba Azmi said, “I genuinely got really good response for the film. Today the stars that came here, I share very long relationship with them so, they are more friends I would say for me. After interacting with all of them, I think that they have liked the film so let’s see what happens next.”
Talking about the film, Baba Azmi said, “Today, my father would have completed 100 years and I made this film with that emotion. It was very necessary for me that I show this film to people on his birth anniversary for my family and friends. I have succeeded in it so, I am feeling happy about it.”
When asked Azmi whether he can shared some details of the film, he said, “I can’t reveal anything about this film but I can say that it’s a good film.”
Mee Raqsam's narrative is about a father-daughter relationship which stands as a tribute to Shabana Azmi and Baba Azmi's father Kaifi Azmi.
‘Mee Raqsam’ started filming on January 17, 2019, which coincides with lyricist Javed Akhtar's birthday. This year called for major celebrations for the Azmis and Akhtars as on January 14, 2020 marked Kaifi Azmi's birth centenary and three days later, Javed Akhtar would be celebrating his 75th birthday.
