The results of nearly 50 percent of the votes cast in the April 5 presidential elections were announced by Afghanistan's Election Commission on Sunday. More than 3.4 million votes have been counted so far, according to the Election Commission, wherein presidential hopeful Abdullah Abdullah is leading with 44.4 percent, followed by Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai and Zalmai Rassoul with 33.2 percent and 10.2 percent, respectively.
