BUDAPEST, April 16, 2014 - Hungary's President Janos Ader mourns at "Shoes on the Danube Bank" statues to commemorate the Hungarian victims of the Holocaust in Budapest, Hungary on April 16, 2014. The memorial gives remembrance to the Hungarian jews shot into the Danube by Arrow Cross Militiamen in 1944-45. In 2000, the Hungarian Parliament designated April 16 as the Day of Remembrance for Hungarian Victims of the Holocaust. The first memorial event of its kind was held in 2001.
