New Delhi: Consumers are likely to shed more tears over high onion prices as unexpected rains and pest menace have hit the crop in major onion-producing States in the South. The retail price of onion has gone up since the end of August this year. A sharp spike in prices of onion in the past 10 days by Rs 11.56 per kg has taken the all-India retail price of onion to Rs 51.95 per kg, which is 12.13 per cent higher than last year's price of Rs 46.33 per kg.
