Mirror immersion of Goddess Durga during Dashami puja

Kolkata: A reflection of an idol of goddess Durga seen in the mirror during Dashami Puja in Kolkata on Oct 26, 2020. Maha Dashami starts with usual rituals including darpan visarjan or the symbolic immersion of the idols by way of which the devotees try to catch a glimpse of the feet of Goddess Durga in the mirror. This is followed by 'Sindhur Khela' - a Bengali Hindu tradition where married women smear each other with vermillion.Thereafter, the Goddess is offered paan (betel leaf) and sweets followed by idol immersion that marks the end of Durga puja.
