Shimla: British-built 1905 steam engine runs on Kalka -Shimla UNESCO World Heritage railway track, in Shimla. Northern Railways' only existing narrow-guage steam engine, the KC-520, has been brought from Saharanpur and given a new coat of ochre and red paint. This engine was made by the North British Locomotive Company for Rs 30,000 and was decommissioned in 1971 after the advent of diesel locomotives. The engine made a comeback in 2001 for small trips between Shimla and Kathleeghat for corporate and foreign tourists.
