ISTANBUL, Feb. 27, 2015 - Turkish police closed a street outside the U.S. consulate general in Istanbul on Feb. 27, 2015. Turkish police detained a man threating to detonate a suicide bomb in front of the U.S. consulate in Istanbul on Friday, local media said. The suspect, reportedly mentally unstable, said he was going to blow himself up, while the special operation teams neutralized him soon. Istanbul has been on high security alert since January, after a suicide bomber blew herself up at a police station in the historic Sultanahmet neighborhood, killing one officer and wounding another.
