Mugabe, who turns 91 this month, is the oldest leader in the world and one of the longest-serving African statesmen. Having ruled Zimbabwe for 35 years since independence, Mugabe was endorsed by the ruling ZANU-PF party as the sole candidate to contest at the age of 94 in the next presidential election in 2018.
