At least 1000 non-resident Indians (NRIs) are campaigning in various parts of Gujarat for Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Lok Sabha polls 2019. They came from the US, the UK, New Zealand, Canada and some African countries. While some NRIs support Modi’s policy decisions like the Swachh Bharat initiative some support women empowerment programmes carried out in PM Modi's tenure like Beti Bachao Abhiyaan and the Ujjawala Yojana. Dressed with saffron scarves, T-shirts with slogans such as ‘Phir Ek Baar Modi Sarkar’ and caps with the ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ mantra, they hold meetings with villagers, organise bike rallies and ‘chai pe charcha’ events to support PM Modi.
