Barack Obama was elected as the 44th president of the United States on November 4, 2008. He was the first African-American president in the history of the United States. In 2009, Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” The leader of the Democratic party was born at Honolulu, Hawaii. As the successor of George W. Bush, Obama got elected as US president twice between 2009 to 2017.
