The three-year-long political alliance between PDP and BJP in Jammu and Kashmir came to an abrupt end on Tuesday after the saffron party decided to pull out leading to the resignation of chief minister Mehbooba Mufti. Calling its partnership with PDP ‘untenable’, the BJP cited a rise in terrorism, violence, radicalization and the killing of journalist Shujaat Bukhari as the reasons behind its decision.
