The state of Assam has got its first transgender judge in people's court. Swati Bidhan Baruah took the charge of the court on July 14 in Guwahati. While talking to media, Baruah said that he has been appointed as Lok Adalat judge. Baruah has become third transgender judge across the nation. She said that it was a long legal battle for her to get implemented the National Legal Services Authority judgement. For this, she had filed a PIL in the Guwahati High Court.
