BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has said that the government should ban Sharia courts if they violate Constitution in cases of triple talaq and ‘nikah halala’. Swamy said that the fundamental right to practice religion is subject to reasonable restrictions depending upon the morality and public order. Swamy further added that it is an issue based on morality and also about fundamental rights of Muslim women, and if these provisions are violated in any case then the culprits should be arrested and the Sharia courts must be banned.
