The people of Delhi came together in Connaught Place on Saturday evening and formed a 'human chain' to protest against proposed felling of trees in NCR. As per Forest Survey of India’s State of Forest Reports tree cover in Delhi declined from 123 sq km in 2019 to 111 sq km in 2017. Delhi’s per capita tree cover stands at an abysmal 0.002 hectare. FSI has put Delhi’s per capita tree availability at 0.3, or less than one tree per person.
