Five members of a family drowned while taking a bath in Cauvery river near Mettur in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district. The family was on their way to a relative’s house when they decide to take a bath in Cauvery. Three bodies have been recovered by the Tamil Nadu police, while a search for remaining people is still on. The Mettur reservoir is almost brimming and the water level stands at 118 feet against its capacity of 120 feet. A flood alert has been issued for people living near the banks of Cauvery river in Tamil Nadu.
