The Mettur dam reached its full capacity of 120 feet after almost 5 years. Following this, water was released from the dam. Even as many people gathered to watch the release of water at the dam, people living downstream were warned to move to higher ground as the water level in the river would increase. Officials said they are taking all precautions that the released water doesn't go to waste and is used to fill up ponds and reservoirs. The Mettur dam has reached its full capacity for the 39th time in its history.
