The Beating Retreat ceremony was held at Wagah Border on India’s 72nd Independence Day. The Border Security Force jawans and Pakistani Rangers carried out their routine exchanges amid cheering spectators on both sides of the border and a spirit of patriotism and nationalism. Earlier, BSF jawans exchanged sweets with Pakistani Rangers to mark India’s 72nd Independence Day. Beating Retreat ceremony at Wagah-Attari Border on Independence Day is quite popular among visitors on both sides. The ceremony marks a century-old military tradition, which can be traced back to early 1950s.
