Incessant rainfall, landslide and overflowing rivers have resulted in death of 73 people in flood hit state Kerala. The Centre and state government launched a massive rescue operations in the worst-affected districts. The indian army and jawans of ITBP rescued senior citizens ,children and women in flood-hit Alappuzha and Thrissur on Thursday. Indian Army constructed a 35-feet long bridge to rescue people stuck in floods in Malampuzha’s Valiyakada village of the state.For the first time, the state has opened 35 of its 39 dams due to rising water levels. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for eight districts of the state. Southern Railways and Kochi Metro have suspended their operations in flood-hit Kerala.
