Today’s Google Doodle celebrates the start of the 18th Asian Games, also called the Asiad. These Games are organised by the Olympic Council of Asiad and are held every four years. The Asian Games are the second largest multi-sporting event in the world- second only to the Olympic Games. Indonesia is the host country this year, with all the events happening in either the capital Jakarta or the country’s oldest city, Palembang. The Google doodle celebrates the diversity of sporting events that will occur over the 2 week long event.
