Devotees thronged Lord Ayyappa’s temple in Hubli, Karnataka in large numbers on Friday in the wake of the Niraputhari ritual and Chingam festivities this week. Devotees to Ayyappa had been advised by authorities to refrain from visiting the shrine due to heavy rainfall and floods. Despite warnings and transportation difficulties, many devotees turned up to attend the festivities of the week. The bridges at Triveni which is used by devotees to reach the hill shrine were also inundated, as the Pampa river at the foothills is overflowing due to heavy rains.
