When the going gets tough, the tough get going…and Virat Kohli proved this yet again with a masterful 23rd century to put India in the driver’s seat against England in the third test at Trent Bridge. India had come into the match having lost the first two test matches. India lost the last test at Lord’s by an innings and 159 runs where they faced less than 83 overs in both innings. Kohli has now gone past former great Mohammad Azharuddin’s record of 426 runs – the most by any Indian captain – 440 with two more tests to go in the series. He has also become the only captain to score fifty plus in both innings of a test match five times going past the likes of MS Dhoni and MAK Pataudi. England now face a daunting task of scoring a massive 521 runs to win. Captain Kohli is finally in command for the first time in the series.
