For residents of East Delhi, the upcoming festival season could mean strewn garbage and a stench-filled air, as scores of sanitation workers have gone on an indefinite strike over various issues, including non-payment of salaries. These striking workers held a protest march and shouted slogans against the Arvind Kejriwal govt, saying it is not releasing money to cash-strapped corporations. Officials of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation tried to pacify the agitating workers, but they refused to return to work.
