The Government of India has set a target for installation of 40 GW power grid connected Solar Rooftop systems in the country by 2022. To fulfil the commitment, HSL has taken a step by installing 2 MW Power Rooftop Solar Plant. The Solar power plant was inaugurated by District Collector Pravin Kumar along with Commissioner of Police Mahesh Chandra Laddha, GVMC Commissioner M Hari Narayanan and its CMD R.Adm. L V Sarat Babu in a function at HSL in Visakhapatnam on Friday. The Solar Plant, now the largest Rooftop Solar Plant in Andhra Pradesh, will help the Shipyard to save Rs.48 lakh per annum in energy costs, while also reducing its environmental footprint. This rooftop solar plant will meet about 35% of Shipyard’s total power consumption with 28 lakh units of clean solar energy being generated annually by the plant.
