A 3-member panel of the NGT inspected the Sterlite plant in Tamil Nadu's Tuticorin. The panel headed by former Meghalaya High Court chief justice also interacted with the villagers living near the plant. The district collector as well as the SP along with some officials of Sterlite accompanied the team during the inspection. The team would also hold a public hearing on the matter. Police personnel have been deployed in large numbers at the plant as well as the public hearing.
