The Supreme Court’s verdict allowing women of all age groups into the Sabarimala temple as sparked protests across Kerala and other parts of the country. Hindu groups have been taking out protest marches on almost a daily basis. Members of the Pandalam royal family, who claim a strong bond with Lord Ayappa, took part in a 'Namajapa Yakjam' protest on October 12. The 'Namajapa Yakjam' was organised by the Ayyappa Dharma Samrakshana Samithi. Hindu groups claim that the SC verdict breaks age-old religious beliefs and traditions of the Lord Ayappa temple where menstruating women are not allowed.
