Hundreds of sugarcane farmers locked the Aurangabad joint commissioners office on January 8. The farmers were protesting against the delay in the release of their payments by the sugar factories. The sugarcane farmers alleged that it had been over two months since they gave away all their produce to the sugar factories, but have not received their payments yet. The payments are estimated to be to the tune of Rs 1000 crore.
