A train of 50 wagons carrying water from Tamil Nadu’s Vellore district to reach Chennai on July 12th. Around 50,000 litres of water is being carried in these wagons. A total of 2.5 million litres of water to reach Villivakkam in the first set of wagons today afternoon. The special train was flagged off from the Jolarpet station at 7:20 in the morning and will reach Chennai at around 2 pm in the afternoon. Currently, the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (Chennai Metro Water) is supplying about 525 million litres per day (MLD) in the state capital. This will increase the supply of water in the Chennai city.
