Delhi's last elephant Laxmi, that was missing since July 6, was found early morning on 18th September in the Yamuna Pusta area by cops who were looking for her. Earlier, it was suspected that the elephant could have been taken to other parts of the country, and police and wild life wardens across the country had been alerted. However, a couple of days earlier, the police came to know that the animal is being kept within a few hundred metres from where it had disappeared. The elephant was taken to Shakarpur police station and the mahout Saddam has been detained. The elephant's mahout Saddam had escaped with the elephant on July 6 when officials went to seize the animal.
