Deaths are piling up, but cars zip at 180 kmph on Yamuna expressway. A few incidents. On Sunday, a Maruti Swift with a Lucknow registration number was found speeding at 182.19 kmph on the Yamuna expressway. This is nearly double the permissible maximum limit of 100 kmph on the 165km-long Greater Noida-Agra stretch. Police have identified the vehicle and issued a challan to its driver. Five other cars, including three hatchbacks, one SUV and one sedan of Lucknow, Gwalior, Noida and Delhi registration numbers were also found speeding at 172, 165, 165.1, 162 and 142 kmph respectively. That’s not all. On the night of January 9 this year, a BMW car registered with Agra RTO was recorded cruising at 203.09 kmph, that, too, amid dense fog and without its headlights on. Two other cars of New Delhi and Madhya Pradesh registration numbers were found speeding at 176 and 185 kmph respectively on the same night.
