The Election Commission of India has ordered that the campaigning for Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal will end at 10 pm tomorrow instead of Friday. This is the first time in the history that EC has cut short election campaign. The Election Commission said, "The Commission is deeply anguished at the vandalism done to the statue of Vidyasagar. It is hoped that the vandals are traced by the state administration". In addition to this, the election commission has also decided to remove two West Bengal officials, ADG (CID), West Bengal Rajeev Kumar and principal secretary (home) Atri Bhattacharya, from election duty. EC's order comes after violence was reported during BJP president Amit Shah's rally in Kolkata yesterday.
