Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was born on January 23, 1897 at Cuttack in Odisha. He cleared the Indian Civil Service examination. He resigned from his civil services job on April 23, 1921 and went on to join India's struggle for freedom. During the period of 1921-1941, he was imprisoned eleven times, due to his demand for complete independence. In 1943, Netaji established Azad Hind Radio station during his stay in Berlin. In 1943, Japanese invited Netaji to lead the Indian National Movement in East Asia. He accepted the offer and later led INA. Netaji disagreed with Mahatma Gandhi on his view of gaining Independence through a non-violent struggle. It is assumed that on 18 August 1945, Bose lost his life in a plane crash in Taiwan. However, Netaji’s death in that crash is still not proven by any evidence.
