The police detained several women activists, including ex-chief minister Farooq Abdullah’s sister and daughter during a protest march against abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories. Abdullah’s sister Suraiya and his daughter Safiya were arrested, as they were leading the group of women protesters. These protesters were wearing black arm bands and holding placards during the march. The protesters refused to disperse despite women CRPF personnel’s request and tried to stage a sit-in.
