This group of Parsi women connect over Mahjong every week in Chennai, taking a slice out of Chinese life. Mahjong was reportedly invented by Confucious, it is a tile-based board game usually played by four participants at a time. The game has been played by Parsis over generations as the community was involved in a lot of trade with the Chinese in olden times. The game is known to have similarities with the popular card-game, rummy, in which a player needs to create certain sets in order to win.
