RFID tags will be made mandatory for commercial vehicles entering Delhi from August 24. All commercial vehicles entering the national capital without RFID tags or lacking sufficient recharge amount will need to pay a penalty from August 23 midnight. The penalty will be twice the specified rates of ECC and MCD toll, during the first week, 4 times the specified rates during the second week, and 6 times the specified rates during the third week. The RFID system implementation has been made mandatory for commercial vehicles entering Delhi for which arrangements of the pre-registration of commercial vehicles and sale of RFID tags and its recharge arrangements have been made at the toll plazas and through mobile vans.
