Australian batsman Steven Smith on Thursday became the second-fastest batsman to register 24 centuries in Test cricket. The former Australia captain achieved the feat during the first innings of the opening Ashes Test against England here in Birmingham. Smith recorded his 24th century in 118th innings and went past Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who had achieved the feat in 123 innings. Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar had achieved the feat in his 125th Test innings. Don Bradman leads the list, with his 24th Test century coming in just 66 innings.
