The Supreme Court of India, in its much awaited Sabarimala issue, referred the case to a larger bench after a 3-2 verdict. The apex court said that the issue raises serious questions about faith and practices of a religious denomination and hence requires consideration by a 7-judge bench. It also said that the issue of entry of women into mosque and Agiyari could also be taken up by the larger bench. The SC bench that delivered the verdict includes CJI Gogoi and justices Rohinton Fali Nariman, A M Khanwilkar, D Y Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra. The SC had reserved its verdict on Sabarimala in February this year.
